Who needs it?

Whole life insurance is a great way to provide security for your family. It may be an ideal solution if you are interested in:

  • Provide money for end-of-life expenses so your family doesn't have to.
  • Supplement or replace income so that an early death does not impact your family's financial comfort.
  • Provide funds for your children's post-secondary education in case of an unforeseen event.
  • Protect your family from remaining mortgage payments, so they don't drown in debt or be forced to move if you die unexpectedly.
  • Make a donation to a charity or special interest as part of your legacy.
  • Supplementing an estate or mitigating inheritance taxes 1 .

How does this font work?

Whole life insurance (like all life insurance) is primarily designed to provide money (also called a "death benefit") to your named beneficiary when you die.

All Knights of Columbus whole life insurance policies have premiums that are guaranteed not to increase—no surprise bills to keep your policy.

Our whole life insurance policies also accumulate cash value over time. If the policy is eligible for dividends (which are not guaranteed), you can also choose to return these amounts to your policy by purchasing additional paid-up insurance. Additional paid-up insurance increases your death benefit and the cash value of your policy. The cash value of your policy can be used either by partial loan or full surrender of the policy, or as collateral.

What are my options?

Knights of Columbus whole life insurance products can be flexible to meet your needs.

Product options

Limited Premium Whole Life Insurance

Our flagship policy for maximum flexibility. At the time of application, you choose the number of years to pay the premiums, with a minimum payment period of five years. This period is fixed and guaranteed – a plan tailored to your specific insurance planning needs, even up to and during your retirement years.

Single Premium Whole Life Insurance

An effective and guaranteed way to protect your family and start your legacy with a single premium payment. Your policy is paid for and begins producing cash value growth with that single premium.

Universal life insurance with no lapse guarantee

An adjustable policy that accumulates cash value throughout your life and gives you flexibility in your premium payment schedule. The no-lapse rider is automatically included with your policy at no additional cost, ensuring that your policy remains in force as long as your premiums are paid.

Survivor Universal Life Insurance

A policy that covers two lives, has flexible premium payments, and pays out on the death of the second insured. Often used by couples for estate planning, property preservation, or property equalization.

Whole life insurance with graduated death benefits

No subscription (subscription limited to Canada) is required for this product designed for end-of-life expenses.

Beneficiary Options

You choose who will receive your death benefit: a spouse, a child, other family members, a trust, or even a charity. You can have more than one beneficiary and distribute the proceeds proportionally.

Additional Features and Benefits

There are several special features and benefits (often called riders) that are offered with Knights of Columbus products that can enhance a policy in different ways.

This is a solicitation for insurance. Life insurance is offered through the Knights of Columbus, One Columbus Plaza, New Haven, CT 06510 USA 1-800-380-9995. Life insurance policies have exclusions and limitations. The policy will be issued subject to an assessment of the risks, and a medical examination may be required. Premiums vary based on age at issue and benefits selected, and may increase in the future. Guarantees assume all premiums are paid on a timely basis and are based on the claims-paying ability of the issuer. Any policy loans will impact the guarantees by reducing the death benefit and cash value of the policy. For complete coverage details and costs, please contact your fraternal advisor or the Knights of Columbus. The Knights of Columbus and Knights of Columbus Fraternal Advisors do not provide legal, accounting, or tax advice. Consult your attorney or tax professional.

Single premium whole life insurance is offered through the Knights of Columbus. These policies have conditions, exclusions and limitations. The policy will be issued subject to an underwriting assessment and a medical examination may be required. Guarantees are based on the claims-paying ability of the issuer. The policy may be considered a modified endowment (“MCE”) and any distributions (loans, dividends, cash or accumulations) or assignments of the policy will be subject to applicable income tax to the extent there is a taxable gain in the policy. Any policy loans will impact the guarantees by reducing the death benefit and cash surrender value of the policy. For full coverage costs and details, please contact your fraternal advisor or the Knights of Columbus. In addition, a penalty tax equal to 10% of the taxable amount will be applied to funds distributed before the owner reaches age 59 1/2.
Knights of Columbus insurance products are not guaranteed or insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (“FDIC”) or any other agency of the United States.

Survivor Universal Life Insurance is available through the Knights of Columbus. These policies have conditions, exclusions and limitations. The policy will be issued subject to an underwriting assessment and a medical examination may be required. These contracts offer greater flexibility and are issued with a no-lapse rider. Contract fees are subject to guaranteed maximums as defined in the contract. The amounts and factors required by the no-lapse rider are defined in the contract and are fully guaranteed. As long as the no-lapse rider is active, these contracts are guaranteed to remain in force. The no-lapse rider is active if sufficient accumulated premium is paid as defined in the rider and there are no loans against the contract. Loans against the contract also reduce the death benefits and cash value and may cause these contracts to lapse. Surrender charges may apply. For complete coverage costs and details, please contact your fraternal advisor or the Knights of Columbus.

Graded Death Benefit Whole Life Insurance does not require medical underwriting or application.
